Agriculture Department Intensifies Farmer ID Creation Drive Across A&N Islands

Sri Vijaya Puram | September 8, 2026 The Department of Agriculture, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, has intensified its drive to create Farmer IDs and enrol eligible farmers in the Farmer Registry across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The initiative is aimed at establishing a digital identity for farmers and facilitating seamless access to PM-KISAN and other Government schemes, subsidies, agricultural services and benefits. As part of the drive, field functionaries of the Department are conducting enrolment camps and visiting villages to ensure maximum coverage of eligible farmers. The Department has accorded top priority to achieving 100% saturation of the Farmer Registry, with the objective of ensuring that every eligible farmer is registered and able to avail the benefits and services available under various Government schemes and programmes. Field staff have been directed to intensify enrolment activities, expand outreach and ensure comprehensive coverage, particularly among farmers who have not yet completed their registration. Efforts are also being made to address difficulties faced by farmers during the registration process and resolve them at the earliest to make the enrolment process smooth and hassle-free. Regarding name mismatches between the Record of Rights (RoR) and Aadhaar, farmers have been requested to collect and submit duly filled-in application forms along with the necessary documents to the concerned Sub-Depot In-Charges. The applications will subsequently be taken up with the Revenue Department for resolution of the issue. The Department of Agriculture has appealed to all eligible farmers who have not yet created their Farmer ID to approach their nearest Agriculture Sub-Depot and complete their Farmer Registry enrolment at the earliest. Farmers have been advised to complete the registration on priority, as failure to complete Farmer Registry enrolment may result in stoppage of subsidized fertilizer, agricultural inputs and PM-KISAN benefits from the ensuing Rabi Season 2026. The Department has further urged all eligible farmers to cooperate with field functionaries and make use of the enrolment facilities being provided across the Islands to help achieve 100% coverage under the Farmer Registry.
