Crews recover body of missing New Haven man after CT River jet ski accident, officials say

WINDSOR — Rescue workers on Monday recovered the body of a 32-year-old New Haven man who went missing on the Connecticut River a day earlier following a jet ski accident, officials said. The remains of Jose Nunez Quezada were found after emergency crews resumed a search that began on Sunday evening, according to spokesperson for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection The state Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner will now perform an autopsy to determine the man's cause and manner of death, Will Healey, the agency spokesperson, said in a news release. 'DEEP extends its condolences to Jose's family and friends,' Healey said, adding that the incident remains under investigation. Healey previously said that DEEP's Environmental Conservation police responded to an area near the Bissell Bridge Boat Launch in Windsor after receiving a report that a person was missing in the water as a result of an accident involving a jet ski. The South Windsor Fire Department said the agency was dispatched to the river just after 7 p.m. for a missing person alongside local law enforcement and the Capitol Region Emergency Service Team dive team. DEEP officials said the search was suspended around 11 p.m. Sunday after about four hours. Crews resumed the search at 9 a.m. Monday. The Central Connecticut Dive Team, Connecticut State Police and Windsor police and fire departments assisted with the search, officials have said.
