'One-metre pizza': What else can we expect from new restaurant La Milano?

With construction well under way in the George Street location, La Milano owner Ruban Singh said that local diners could be feasting on Italian food sooner than they expect. We are aiming for the middle of the month, but it might be a bit before or a bit after, but we are definitely aiming for September," he said. This is something he said he was very excited about, especially considering the time Mr Singh has spent in Bathurst scouting for the best location. After opening the Orange La Milano restaurant in 2023, Mr Singh has had his sights set on a Central West expansion for a few years. Then, with the closure of Sweet Caramel, he finally found the perfect venue. With a seating capacity of about 180, and a separate space which can be used for private functions, the location boasted everything Mr Singh could have hoped for. In February this year, contracts were signed, and then in May, construction began. "We are getting so excited now, because this is a very good location," Mr Singh said. Even more exciting for Mr Singh is knowing that he will be able to serve his loyal customers, who have already been travelling to Orange for a taste of La Milano. "We are very excited because we have so many customers from Bathurst every week going to Orange just to have breakfast, dinner, or lunch there," he said. "We have a good customer base in Bathurst already, so we are very excited, and we are happy for them as well, so they can enjoy La Milano in their town." But unlike the Orange location, Bathurst will be home to some exciting new additions. With Bathurst set to stock the same popular dishes as Orange, including pizzas, pastas, main meals, salads and desserts, the Bathurst menu will also boast one-metre pizzas. "We will have one-metre pizzas on the menu, and 0.5 metre pizzas, and then just normal sized pizza as well," Mr Singh said. "And we make pretty much everything in house, arancini balls, pizza, homemade pasta, gnocchi, ravioli, lasagne, and for the people who don't love carbs, we can do some chicken and some salads, and we do freshly made desserts." The best part, according to Mr Singh, is that many of the menu items can be altered for specific dietary requirements, including vegans, coeliacs and those with allergies. As well as the exciting options on the food menu, Mr Singh said there will be an authentic array of Italian drinks and wines on offer. "There are so many Italian wines, and we are importing so many things from Italy, even from our cooking ingredients," he said. "For the beer lovers, we'll be doing three litre beer towers on the menu as well, and on tap we'll have Peroni and Great Northern, and two others, plus so many cocktails and mocktails and good drink options for the kids as well." Overall, that's Mr Singh's main goal - to create a venue that's fit for the whole family. Perfect for the whole family "It's casual family dining that's open for everyone, kids, adults, old people, everybody can enjoy it," he said. Not only can people of all ages enjoy the options on offer, but La Milano can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mr Singh said the restaurant will open from 9am until 3pm every day, and 5pm until 9pm, with opening hours subject to change depending on the season. Now, he is just "really, really excited to welcome the people of Bathurst to La Milano", and said that a grand opening will be held in the coming weeks.
