Lawyer Salman Safdar met Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in jail, with the meeting lasting around 40 minutes, according to details shared after the visit.
The meeting began at 4:30 pm and marked Safdar's first meeting with Imran Khan in seven months, despite repeated requests for access. He also met Bushra Bibi for the first time in 11 months.
Safdar said the brief meeting did not provide enough time to discuss all the cases and legal matters involving the PTI founder.
During the meeting, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi updated the lawyer on their health and conditions inside the prison. They also gave him fresh instructions concerning their pending cases and other legal matters.
Meanwhile, sources said the PTI parliamentary party had decided to extend conditional support to the proposed 28th Constitutional Amendment, linking its backing to Imran Khan's release.
According to the sources, most participants favoured making the party's support for the proposed amendment conditional on the PTI founder's release.
The parliamentary party also decided to establish a six-member steering committee to address concerns over access to Imran Khan and arrangements for his medical treatment.
Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas will lead the committee. It will also include two members of the National Assembly, two senators and representatives from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The committee will engage with the government and other relevant stakeholders to discuss these matters, sources added.
