ICT Polio Campaign Reaches 290,114 Children, Achieves 65% Target On Day Two

The Deputy Commissioner presided over a meeting to assess the progress of the ongoing anti-polio drive across the Federal capital. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners and officials of the Health Department. During the session, the performance of all eight divisions participating in the campaign was reviewed individually. Health officials briefed the meeting on the latest progress and informed participants that 290,114 children had been administered polio drops on the second day of the campaign, enabling authorities to achieve 65 percent of the overall target. The meeting also reviewed the challenges being faced by polio workers in the field. Officials discussed issues affecting vaccination teams and examined measures to address obstacles that could impact campaign coverage. A detailed review of refusal cases was also conducted. Each case involving families who declined vaccination was discussed separately to identify concerns and improve outreach efforts. Officials emphasized the need for continued engagement with parents and guardians to ensure that all eligible children receive polio drops during the campaign. The participants further carried out a comparative analysis of the campaign's performance against the previous two anti-polio drives conducted in the capital. The comparison focused on coverage levels, progress achieved during the first two days and the overall response from the public. The Deputy Commissioner directed field teams and relevant departments to further improve vaccination coverage in areas where targets have not yet been achieved. He stressed the importance of ensuring that every eligible child is reached before the completion of the campaign. The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to citizens to cooperate fully with polio workers and vaccination teams visiting homes and communities across Islamabad. He said public cooperation remains essential for the success of the anti-polio campaign. 'Without the support and cooperation of citizens, the anti-polio campaign cannot be made successful in any way,' the Deputy Commissioner said, urging parents to ensure that their children receive polio drops and contribute to efforts aimed at protecting children from the disease.
