Womens Empowerment Takes Center Stage at She Is Changemaker Event in Faridabad

Faridabad, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : The two-day event 'She Is Changemaker,' organized by the National Commission for Women, concluded on September 8 in Faridabad. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, emphasizing that the conference represents a collective commitment to women's strength and nation-building. Vijaya Rahatkar, the chairperson of the National Commission for Women, expressed her belief that India has strong policies and laws for women. She noted that while systems are in place to implement these laws, societal involvement is crucial in addressing women's issues. The event brought together women legislators from across the country for discussions on various women's issues and how to make development more woman-centric. Rahatkar stated that when development focuses on women, it ultimately benefits entire families. She highlighted the integral role of women in society, culture, and tradition, asserting that women are not just the center of families but also the backbone of communities. On the opening day, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla stressed the importance of increased women's participation in democratic institutions. He referred to the provision for 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies as a historical necessity. Birla predicted that a new generation of women leaders would emerge in the coming years, with women's representation in public services exceeding 50 percent. He urged women to actively participate in shaping laws that address their concerns and aspirations. Birla also highlighted various legislative measures aimed at enhancing women's safety, empowerment, and self-reliance, noting the significant role institutions like the National Commission for Women play in identifying and addressing emerging challenges.
