A 46-year-old man is facing multiple arson charges after a fire broke out at a multi-suite residence in Winnipeg's North End over the weekend. Police say officers responded to the 300 block of College Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday following a report of a fire at the building. Officers determined the fire was set by a tenant, who then retreated to his suite and refused to co-operate with police, according to a news release. He was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported to tenants as a result of the fire, police said. The man has been charged with four counts of arson with disregard for human life and remains in custody.
