Denmark plans to return ton-heavy iron meteorite to Greenland The large iron meteorite Agpalilik in the courtyard of the Natural History Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen, Denmark, 29 April 2026 (issued 07 September 2026). There is political agreement that the Greenlandic iron meteorite Agpalilik, which has stood in front of the Natural History Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen for decades, should be returned to Greenland. Agpalilik means 'the rock where the sea kings live' and is part of the so-called Cape York meteorite. It is ton-heavy and struck in Northwest Greenland about 10,000 years ago.
