According to officials, work on the widening and extension of the main road, covering approximately 2.7 kilometres, is progressing alongside construction of the service road.
They informed the chairman that structural work on the underpass at Sangjani Interchange had been completed, while piling for abutments on both sides of the N-5 Interchange Bridge had also been finished.
Four of the project's five culverts have been completed, while work on the remaining one is underway. Construction of loops and ramps is also continuing.
Sohail Ashraf expressed satisfaction over the pace of work and directed officials to ensure that construction met the required standards of speed, quality and transparency.
He said the project would improve access to Islamabad for commuters travelling from within and outside the capital, particularly those arriving from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The road link would also facilitate travellers from Abbottabad, Mansehra and other adjoining areas, besides providing improved connectivity to Islamabad International Airport, he added.
Senior CDA officials accompanied the chairman during the inspection.
