ChatGPT Mil, Grok Join Pentagon's GenAI.mil Platform

WASHINGTON: ChatGPT Mil and Grok for Government joined the Pentagon's GenAI.mil platform on August 31, expanding secure access to generative AI for more than 3 million military and civilian personnel. The Department of Defence said both products received Impact Level 5 accreditation for handling Controlled Unclassified Information. GenAI.mil already offered Google's Gemini for Government, making the portal a multi-model AI environment. ChatGPT Mil provides chat, files, projects and custom GPTs. The department said personnel can use it for document-heavy unclassified work involving planning, policy, logistics and administration, with more capabilities due later. OpenAI said its deployment runs inside authorised government cloud infrastructure. Data processed through GenAI.mil remains isolated from external systems and is not used to train or improve OpenAI's public or commercial models.
