A Ford driver, Jonathan Hailey, tried the fan. Then the chargers. Then different combinations of both. According to his account, his 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum kept giving him the same result: Pro Power Onboard shut off after 30 minutes.
The truck had 76% battery charge, he wrote, and just 4,350 miles. He had also selected the setting intended to keep the outlets running when the vehicle was off. After spending the day changing what was plugged in, he asked a Ford Lightning Facebook group what he was doing wrong.
'Turned off every time,' Hailey wrote in the Ford F150 Lightning EV Enthusiasts discussion.
That is a frustratingly small job for a truck with such a useful power feature. Yet the replies point to something more complicated than an empty battery or an obvious overload. Ford separates the vehicle shutdown timer, operation with the truck switched off, and the driving-range reserve. Other owners were answering different parts of that problem.
The Setting He Hadn't Checked Was Outside the Pro Power Menu
Sean Nichols asked whether Hailey had switched off the vehicle countdown timer. Hailey's response was revealing: 'Nope, where's that? Not in the Pro Power menu screen?'
Ford's 2025 Lightning manual places the Vehicle Power Down Timer under Vehicle in the settings menu. It also says the timer turns back on each time the vehicle is started. Switching it off once does not permanently change the truck's behavior.
Hailey had found a control that appeared to address his goal, yet the first advice was to look somewhere else. The timer is worth checking, although the thread contains no follow-up confirming that switching it off solved the problem.
'Keep On' Describes a Different Operating Mode

Hailey's selected setting creates a complication: he said he had enabled operation with the vehicle off.
Ford's 2025 manual describes a separate toggle for keeping Pro Power outlets active after shutting down the vehicle. The same instructions distinguish between using the outlets with the vehicle on and using them with it off.
Advice to leave the truck running and disable its shutdown timer addresses one operating mode. Advice to select the outlet toggle and switch the truck off addresses the other. Hailey did not say whether the vehicle itself remained on during each attempt, so those replies cannot yet be matched to what happened.
A Small Load Can Create a Different Shutdown Problem
Several commenters suggested that his devices were drawing too little power, with some citing a 90-watt threshold and a five-minute shutdown.
There is relevant Ford guidance, but the details matter. In a June 2026 discussion about bringing vehicle-off Pro Power operation to 2022 and 2023 Lightnings, the forum's Official Ford Account said the system would shut down after five minutes if it did not see roughly 100 watts of demand.
That statement supports checking low-load behavior. It does not establish a universal, exact 90-watt rule for Hailey's 2025 truck. His reported half-hour interval also differs from the five minutes in Ford's reply.
A small fan or charger can make this behavior especially confusing: using very little electricity sounds like an advantage. Hailey changed combinations of devices, but did not report their measured draw.

A High Battery Percentage Does Not Override the Reserve
The 76% figure makes the complaint striking, but battery percentage alone cannot rule out a configured cutoff.
Ford's battery reserve instructions allow the driver to preserve driving range and say Pro Power shuts down at that selected limit. Hailey did not report his reserve setting, so its role here remains unknown.
For a driver troubleshooting the same symptom, the useful details are the operating mode, actual draw, reserve setting, and any shutdown message. Ford also documents ground-fault and circuit-breaker interruptions in its 2025 troubleshooting guidance. A recurring fault message deserves its own attention instead of another round of timer adjustments.
