Traditional Skittles tournament in Wexford village raises over €3,100 for children's hospice

A traditional skittles tournament in Wexford has raised just over €3,100 for children's charity. Locals in Kilmuckridge, Co. Wexford recently gathered at Hammels Lounge to officially hand over funds raised from a traditional Skittles tournament. The event served as a fundraiser for LauraLynn Ireland's Children's Hospice and saw competing teams gather outside Hammel's Pub for the Joe Hammel's Skittles tournament earlier this year. Members of Joe Hammels Skittles group recently met with Brian McLoughlin of LauraLynn at Hammels Lounge in Kilmuckridge for an official presentation of funds raised. In total, the tournament raised €3,105 for Lauralynn following their Skittles tournament which took place earlier this year. On behalf of the players in the Skittles tournament, organiser Jason Chawke said they were very grateful for the support of the community and thanked them for their raising funds for LauraLynn. Members spent each week competing in teams since April, hoping to take home the trophy. In the end, the overall winner of the tournament was 'Porters of Killenagh', while 'Wandies Men' came out on top taking home the win in the Shield final. A Skittles tournament is a competitive sporting event where teams try to knock wooden pins, known as Skittles by throwing or rolling a heavy ball. The idea is to try reducing your score from 51, down to one. Following the success of the tournament, Jason previously said they are open to supporting local charities and causes in the future.
