The Duchess of Gloucester stepped in for Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey on Thursday, opening the annual Field of Remembrance just hours after the Queen returned from her Caribbean tour.
Dressed in black and wearing a matching beret, the Duchess took part in the poignant ceremony in the Abbey grounds, where rows of red poppy crosses have been placed to honour members of the Armed Forces who lost their lives serving their country.
Pictures captured her leaning forward to place a pale wooden cross among the sea of vivid red poppies.
