Homeowner, domestic worker electrocuted as iron railing touches wires on rooftop A homeowner and her domestic worker died after suffering electric shocks from high-voltage wires in the Yasirabad neighbourhood of Chakwal. The tragic incident occurred within the limits of Chakwal City police station when the two women came into contact with high-voltage wires while moving a metal railing on the roof of a house. According to sources, the women were washing clothes on the second floor of the house when they attempted to move an iron railing to another location. During the process, the railing touched high-voltage wires passing overhead, electrocuting both women. They died on the spot. The deceased homeowner originally belonged to Dowalmial village but had been living permanently with her family in Yasirabad, Chakwal. The domestic worker was reportedly a resident of Sargodha district. Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident and shifted the bodies to the District Headquarters Hospital, Chakwal, for medico-legal formalities and post-mortem examinations. News of the deaths plunged the families and relatives of the victims into grief. The incident has also raised concerns about safety arrangements around high-voltage power lines passing close to residential rooftops. Moving metal objects near such wires can pose a serious risk, as direct contact may result in fatal electrocution. The tragedy serves as a reminder to exercise extreme caution when handling metal objects or carrying out construction work near high-voltage power lines. Residents should seek assistance from the relevant electricity distribution company to ensure appropriate safety measures are in place.
