Alexander Kemp, 22, of Sketty in Swansea, was described as being an isolated individual who was the sole carer for his mother. Sian Cutter, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court that Kemp had pleaded guilty to eight counts of making and distributing sexual images of children at an earlier plea trial and preparation hearing. She said that on July 7, 2025, several of Kemp's devices were seized, including a phone and laptop which he confirmed were his. On the devices there were 91 category A images, 41 category B images, and 47 category C images, as well as 22 extreme images and 43 prohibited images. The court heard they were a mix of still and moving images, and accessible and inaccessible. Ms Cutter added that a baby as young as 12 months old was depicted in the images. His offending took place between June 2024 and July 2025, when Kemp was aged between 19 and 21. Don't miss a court report by signing up to our crime newsletter here . Ms Cutter told the court that Kemp had no relevant web history on either device but did have a computer game where a modification app had been downloaded which could create images. Swansea Crown Court heard how a range of images had also been distributed from the phone via Telegram on 11 different group chats. In total he distributed 26 category A images, 10 category B images, and nine category C images. Judge Huw Rees said: "Showing an interest in such images creates a demand for further abuse of children to take place. When these images are shared extensively on the internet, for those children is that they remain on the internet forever. This extends the trauma for the children who are victims." The court heard that 22-year-old Kemp had no previous convictions and had abided by his bail conditions and not offended further since his arrest in July 2025. Hannah George, representing Kemp, said her client was an adolescent going into his early adulthood when the crimes took place. Ms George said that Kemp's early childhood experiences may go "some way" in explaining why such material had been sought by the defendant. Ms George also detailed how Kemp had no father figure and was acting as the primary carer for his mother who suffers with painful ill health. She described Kemp as an "isolated individual" and said he had a realistic prospect of rehabilitation. Passing a suspended sentence, Judge Rees described the images as being "particularly filthy". Judge Rees continued: "If you don't learn from the sentence I will pass you will never learn and will deserve to go to prison for a substantial amount of time." Kemp was sentenced to 22 months in prison, suspended for two years. Judge Rees also ordered him to attend 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and made him subject of a sexual harm prevention order which will last for 10 years. Article continues below
