Presentation to take people on a trip down VIU's memory lane

The evolution of Malaspina College to Vancouver Island University will be explored during a presentation at Bowen Park in Nanaimo. In a press release, Nanaimo Historical Society said Steve Wood, a VIU student completing a bachelor of arts honours degree in history, will give the Vancouver Island University: Stories of the Early Days presentation at Bowen Park complex on Thursday, Sept. 10 beginning at 7 p.m. Wood interviewed staff and faculty from the early days of the post-secondary institution as part of a history project and will talk about 'the process of undertaking a history project of this scale,' giving a sense of the trials and tribulations of using oral history to reveal more about the past, according to the press release. A native of Scotland, Wood has a background in the Royal Air Force and Merchant Navy with a particular interest in exploring 'the history of his adopted homeland.'
