Police have arrested the man for allegedly swindling monder after marrying the Australian transgender person.
An Australian transgender person was allegedly deceived into marrying a young man in Gujranwala after being brought to Pakistan and presented as a woman, police said.
The case was registered at Ladhewala Warraich on the Australian citizen's complaint. Police arrested the man, identified as Usman, and his father, while an investigation is under way.
According to the complaint, Usman first contacted the Australian transgender person through TikTok. The Australian citizen travelled to Pakistan twice.
The accused and his associates allegedly transferred more than Rs40 million from the Australian citizen's funds into their accounts.
When the Australian citizen tried to return home, the suspects allegedly stopped the person by force. They also allegedly demanded more money and visas for themselves in exchange for allowing the Australian citizen to leave Pakistan.
The Australian citizen allegedly escaped from the reported confinement on 1 June and reached Lahore.
Police said the investigation into the allegations is continuing.
