September 11, 2026 (MLN): Affordable housing finance under the Prime Minister's 'Apna Ghar Programme Ghar Ho To Apna' has continued to gain traction, with total approved financing reaching Rs351.3 billion and disbursements standing at Rs51.13bn.
The latest programme data showed that 60,349 housing finance cases have been approved so far, indicating increasing access to formal housing finance for prospective homeowners across the country.
Approved financing rose by Rs38.3bn, or more than 12%, during the latest week, reflecting a notable acceleration in financing activity under the initiative, according to APP.
The growing flow of housing finance is also expected to support activity across the wider construction ecosystem, generating demand for key materials and products including cement, steel, bricks, electrical equipment and furniture.
The increased construction activity could further benefit small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) while creating employment opportunities across various segments linked to the housing and construction sectors.
With housing construction involving multiple industries and services, greater access to affordable financing can have a broader multiplier effect on economic activity by supporting both home ownership and businesses associated with residential development.
The latest figures highlight the expanding scale of the Prime Minister's Apna Ghar Programme, as rising financing approvals continue to support the government's objectives of promoting affordable housing, stimulating construction activity and generating employment.
