What Norwich looked like before the rise in online shopping

The city centre was constantly teeming with shoppers before the rise of internet shopping. Norwich played a pioneering role in modern retail with London Street becoming the first existing shopping street in the UK to be pedestrianised in 1967. Some shops have stood the test of time such as Jarrolds, which was opened in 1823, with Waterstones and Primark still bringing in crowds. Shopping centres formerly known as Castle Mall and intu Chapelfield brought a shopping boom to the city centre in the 90s and 2000s. While plenty of people are drawn to them still, they have been faced with rafts of closures in recent years down to large retailers failing to make revenue.
