Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said people from different cities have begun traveling to participate in the march according to the planned strategy. He said the protest is being held because the public is facing severe difficulties, particularly due to high petrol prices. Hafiz Naeem said lower- and middle-income households are struggling because of rising fuel costs and demanded that the petroleum levy be abolished. He accused the government of imposing an excessive financial burden on the public while citing international market conditions as justification for higher prices. He said political action could not be limited to social media and stressed that the march would continue until its demand was addressed. According to Hafiz Naeem, the abolition of the petroleum levy is the key outcome being sought through the protest.
