CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — Coastal Carolina newcomer quarterback Deuce Bailey has been named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in Saturday's loss to West Virginia. Bailey, who is the first Chanticleer to earn the honors since former quarterback Ethan Vasko in 2024, completed 21 of 37 passes for 373 yards and three touchdowns in the 31-24 loss to the Mountaineers. He also added 19 rushing yards on 10 attempts. Bailey's 373 passing yards matched the most by a Chanticleer quarterback since Coastal Carolina moved to the FBS level and are tied for the fourth-most in a game in program history. Saturday was just Bailey's second collegiate start, with the first coming in 2025 at Missouri State in a game against Middle Tennessee State. The redshirt freshman earned Conference USA Freshman of the Week honors after that start. Bailey's next chance to build off his impressive opener will come at home on Saturday as the Chanticleers take on Fordham. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on ESPN+. * * * Caleb is a digital producer at News13. Caleb joined the team in January 2023 after graduating from Liberty University. He is from Northern Virginia.
