A review petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the order concerning the hospital transfer of Imran Khan.
The petition raises concerns about the wider implications of allowing a prisoner to be transferred to a private hospital and warns that the decision could lead to similar demands from other inmates.
According to the review petition, transferring a prisoner to a private hospital could disrupt the existing framework of the criminal justice system.
It argues that other prisoners could also seek similar treatment and demand transfers to hospitals of their choice, potentially bypassing established jail rules.
Warning of 'floodgates' opening
The petition warns that if the Supreme Court does not withdraw its order, it could open the 'floodgates' for similar requests from prisoners.
It maintains that inmates across the country could seek special treatment and insist on receiving medical care at hospitals of their own choice.

According to the petition, such a situation could create broader challenges for the administration of prisons and the criminal justice system.
District election commissioner also named as party
The review petition also points out that the District Election Commissioner was a party in the case. It argues that the Supreme Court did not take notice of this aspect during the proceedings.
The petition has therefore sought a review of the court's earlier order, citing concerns over its potential impact on prison rules and the wider criminal justice system.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has accused the government of contempt of court over its handling of PTI founder Imran Khan's hospital transfer and announced that a contempt petition will be filed.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad alongside Khan's sisters, Afridi said the Supreme Court order issued by a three-judge bench had not been implemented.

He said the government had failed to follow the Supreme Court's order concerning the transfer and medical treatment of Imran Khan. He alleged that the authorities neither follow the country's laws nor respect court orders, adding that PTI would challenge the matter through legal means.
The KP chief minister announced that a contempt of court petition would be filed over the alleged non-compliance with the Supreme Court's directions.
PTI warns of intensified protest movement
Afridi said the situation had changed following the developments of the previous night and warned that PTI's protest movement would now become more intense.
He recalled that he had previously spoken about bringing two million people onto the streets, but said the target would now be doubled.
The KP chief minister said the party's movement would continue and that PTI would announce its future course of action.
Barrister Gohar says petition to be filed
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar also said the party would file a petition the following day, arguing that medical treatment is a fundamental right of Imran Khan.
He said Khan's sister and personal physician were part of the medical board, as directed by the court, and maintained that the Supreme Court order had been violated. Gohar said the developments during the night were unexpected and condemned what had happened.
