Apple TV Officially Scores 2 Chart-Topping George R.R. Martin Series

15 years ago, Game of Thrones came and changed the game for TV viewers. HBO's long-running franchise has given fans around the world some brilliant characters, plotlines, character arcs, and battles that were not envisioned for TV before, and to top it all off, the fantasy franchise finally brought dragons to our TV screens. George R.R. Martin's iconic series ran for eight seasons, gathering new fans year-on-year, showcasing fantastical creatures like giants, dragons, children of the forest, and a variety of magic practices across the fictional continents, all wrapped up in dramatic political conflicts and the many players fighting for the Iron Throne. With each season, the scope got bigger and better, and at one point, the David Benioff and D. B. Weiss-created show ran out of its source material and still managed to finish the story. With universal praise for the first five seasons, the last three seasons, especially the series finale, earned mixed reviews in terms of how the showrunners brought the story, as well as some character arcs, to a close. Many fans felt robbed after Arya killed the Night King and not Jon, with some gaping plot holes and weakened arcs for some characters like Tyrion, Varys, Jaime, and more. But no one can argue with the appeal of Game of Thrones; it's one of the best political thrillers where you can't guess who'll die or get betrayed next, or which prophecy will come true in which manner. Martin has woven a brilliant world, and only the show stands next to it. After the original series ended, HBO took its time in bringing in the story of the Targaryen dynasty with House of the Dragon. The series elaborates on the conflict between Rhaenyra Targaryen and her half-brother Aegon and sees it through the lens of family conflict and female friendship.
