8th Death of West Nile Fever Registered

Health Minister Sasho Klekovski informed on Sunday that another man from Drachevo has died as a result of West Nile Fever infection, making it the 8 th death of the disease this year. The 70-year-old man was hospitalized at the University Clinic for Infectious Diseases in Skopje, and had other health problems as well. Previously, PM Hristijan Mickoski said the rise in West Nile fever cases was a broader European challenge, not one affecting North Macedonia alone. Speaking in Gevgelija, noting that infections were above average this year in several Mediterranean countries, including Italy and Spain, where deaths had also been reported. SDSM accused PM Mickoski's government and Health Minister Klekovski of mishandling the West Nile fever situation in North Macedonia.
