A customer runs up to the store door a minute after closing, just as I'm locking it. Customer: 'Please, let me come in! I'll be quick! Just this once!' Me: 'Sorry, last time I let a customer come in 'just this once' they took half an hour, made me miss my bus, and I was late to my kid's school play. He never forgave me, which started the decline of our relationship, and then he chose to stay with his dad, and he hasn't spoken to me in almost six months.' Customer: '…oh.' Me: 'We open at seven tomorrow. See you!' I close the doors and start to do my closing duties. Manager: '[My Name], good job with the customer, but I thought you didn't have any kids?' Me: 'I don't.'
