Bengals announce team captains for 2026 season

CINCINNATI — With Week 1 of the NFL season upon us, the Cincinnati Bengals have officially named their team captains for the 2026 season. Quarterback Joe Burrow, wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, offensive tackle Ted Karras, cornerback DJ Turner, safety Bryan Cook and kicker Evan McPherson were named as the seven captains for Cincinnati. Burrow, Chase and Karras are multi-year captains, while McPherson returns to the special teams captain role that he held two years ago. Turner gets the nod as a captain in 2026 after a breakout season as the Bengals' top cornerback last year, with two interceptions and 18 passes defended. Lawrence and Cook earned captaincy in their first seasons with the Bengals, as key players who are both being counted on to turn around a Cincinnati defense that allowed 28.9 points per game last season, third worst in the NFL.
