Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 7: The Government College of Education, Jammu, in collaboration with the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), organised an awareness programme on Swachh Bharat Divas and the SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) Campaign. The programme aimed at sensitising students about the importance of cleanliness, civic responsibility and active participation in the democratic process. An expert/resource person from the concerned organisation interacted with the students and highlighted the significance of the Swachh Bharat Mission, emphasising the need to keep Jammu clean, hygienic and environmentally sustainable. The expert also sensitised the students about the SVEEP campaign, particularly its role in creating awareness regarding elections, informed voting and responsible electoral participation. The students were encouraged to become ambassadors of awareness and motivate others to participate actively in the electoral process. Dr Jyoti Parihar Principal, Government College of Education, Jammu, appreciated the collaborative initiative and stated that educational institutions have a significant role in nurturing responsible citizens. She emphasised that cleanliness, civic sense and informed participation in elections are important pillars of a progressive democracy. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the NSS volunteers and students of the college. The students actively engaged in the awareness activities and reaffirmed their commitment towards maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings and promoting responsible citizenship. The programme concluded with a collective message that a clean city and an informed, responsible electorate are essential for building a healthy, progressive and democratic society.
