MHA Corporate Finance has advised QPE and Initiate Consultancy on the acquisition of Dark Peak Analytics, marking Initiate's first transaction following QPE's investment in the business in December 2025. Sheffield-based Dark Peak Analytics was formed in 2020. The consultancy combines scientific expertise with advanced analysis to support healthcare decision-making for global pharmaceutical and life sciences companies. Initiate, which has offices in Northampton, London, and Zug in Switzerland, is a specialist global market access and health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) consultancy. It supports pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and healthcare clients in areas including evidence generation, value demonstration, pricing, reimbursement and patient access. Against a backdrop of increasing complexity in market access, HTA and evidence requirements, the combination brings together two complementary specialist businesses across market access, HEOR, modelling, analytics and technology-enabled solutions. The enlarged platform gives the combined business greater reach across the HEOR value chain, extending its relevance earlier in the product lifecycle and helping pharmaceutical and life sciences clients demonstrate value and improve patient access. MHA acted as lead M&A adviser to QPE and Initiate, building on its previous role leading the sell-side advisory process for Initiate's shareholders in connection with QPE's investment. Andrew Mumford, CEO of Initiate, said: 'By bringing Initiate and Dark Peak together, we are combining deep expertise across market access, HTA, HEOR, analytics and technology to create a truly integrated, end-to-end offering. "Our ambition is not simply to add capabilities together, but to build a more connected, technology-enabled model that helps clients make better decisions and achieve faster, broader patient access.' James Lawson, Corporate Finance Partner at MHA, commented: 'This is a strategically coherent first step in Initiate's buy-and-build strategy following QPE's investment. "In specialist private equity-backed M&A, the key question is not only whether a target adds capability, but whether it strengthens the platform in a way that can support future value creation. "Dark Peak does that by extending Initiate earlier in the product lifecycle and deepening its relevance across the specialist HEOR and market access value chain.' Dr Robert Smith, Managing Director of Dark Peak Analytics and Chief Scientific Officer of Initiate, said: 'Bringing Dark Peak and Initiate together creates a unique opportunity to integrate advanced analytics, health economic modelling, HEOR and market access expertise within a single platform. "This provides a stronger foundation for innovation and enables us to deliver more efficient, scalable and impactful solutions for clients.' The combination also represents an important milestone in the continued growth of both businesses and provides a stronger platform for investment in people, technology, operational excellence and innovation. Mark Crowley, Investment Director at QPE, added: 'For QPE and the Initiate board, the strategic rationale was clear. Dark Peak adds exceptional scientific, analytical and technology capabilities to an already strong market access and HEOR platform, creating a differentiated proposition that is better positioned to support clients and deliver long-term growth.'
