Mercer County Sheriff Kemler Holding Safety Week Car Seat Check

MERCER COUNTY, NJ – While many of the bigger kids are heading back to class on school buses, Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler is hosting a special car seat safety check for babies and small children. In commemoration of National Child Passenger Safety Week, Kemler will be holding a child car seat safety checkup during National Child Passenger Safety Week through a partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA.) 'It's easy and wise for families to have their child's car seat checked to make sure they're properly protected in case of an accident,' said Sheriff Jack Kemler. 'The complete safety check usually takes just five or ten minutes and could save a life.' Throughout the year, the Sheriff's Office holds routine car seat checks to help families make sure that parents, grandparents, and caregivers keep children safe while traveling in a vehicle. During these, and the upcoming safety check, certified technicians will show and answer questions on how to use car and booster seats correctly. For National Child Passenger Safety Week, the Mercer County Sheriff's Car Seat Safety Check will be held on Thursday, September 24, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the parking lot across from the Mercer County Administration Building, 640 South Broad Street in Trenton. Checkups are first-come, first-served. This program is made possible by a grant secured by the Sheriff's Office from the NJ Division of Highway Traffic Safety.
