Mardan - Details of the utilisation of funds released for COVID-19 relief in Mardan have emerged, showing that Rs82.485 million was spent over three financial years, while Rs24.842 million was surrendered as unutilised. According to documents obtained by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission under the Right to Information process, Rs120 million was released for Mardan district under the COVID-19 general relief measures. The records show that Rs53.964876 million was spent during the financial year 2019-20, Rs12.125979 million in 2020-21 and Rs16.394715 million in 2021-22. The records also show a deduction of Rs12.710410 million by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Mardan, which was reported to the office concerned. According to the official records, Rs24.842 million of the allocation remained unutilised and was surrendered. After accounting for expenditure, the FBR deduction and the surrendered amount, the balance was shown as zero. The details were provided by the Accounts Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Mardan, with copies of the relevant documents sent to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission and other concerned authorities. When the requested information was not provided, the matter was taken up with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission. After prolonged proceedings, the Deputy Commissioner's office submitted the requested information to the commission on August 28, 2026.
