FIR against 5 seniors for ragging in Solan school

Police have registered an FIR against five senior students after a video showing a Class IX boy being assaulted inside a private school in Solan district went viral on social media.The suspects, all minors in classes XI and XII, have been booked under the Himachal Pradesh Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Ragging) Act, said Solan SP Sai Dattatreya Varma .The victim's parents approached police on Sunday, identifying five students who allegedly carried out the Sept 5 assault. 'They claimed the students had been exhibiting such behaviour on campus for four months and sharing videos of threats and ragging on social media platforms,' said the SP.The school principal told the media that the assault was a case of 'student rivalry' and said the five accused have been suspended.
