Scam phone calls pretending to be Wakefield Council continue Two phone numbers have been reported so far: 0345 603 1539 – This is not a number used by Wakefield Council to contact residents. Do not trust calls from this number. 01924 302000 – This is a genuine Wakefield Council number. However, scammers can use technology to make it appear that they are calling from this number. Residents are advised to not accept calls from 0345 603 1539, even if their phone displays the caller as Wakefield Council. If you receive an unexpected call claiming to be from the council, do not provide personal or financial information. If you are unsure, end the call and contact Wakefield Council using an official contact method that you have independently verified. The council is urging people to share the warning with friends, family and vulnerable residents who may be targeted.
