According to his media aide, Esther, the convoy encountered a roadblock along the Airport-Boko Road shortly after arriving from the airport. Obi said he travelled to Benue to visit families who lost loved ones in the attack, stressing that the trip was not for campaign activities. NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has spoken after his convoy was reportedly blocked while on his way to condole with victims of a recent bandit attack in Benue State. According to his media aide, Esther, the convoy had just arrived from the airport and was heading into the city when they discovered that the road had allegedly been blocked to prevent Obi from entering. Obi, who addressed the situation, explained that his visit was humanitarian and not related to campaign activities. 'I am here in a place where people have been killed. I am here to commiserate with them, but now I have been told that youths sponsored by the governor have blocked the road and made sure I do not go in,' Obi said. 'I have been standing here since. We cannot have a country like this. It does not make sense to me. The rascality is totally unacceptable. 'People are being killed every day in Benue. People want to condole them and show that they are with them. I came here only to be told we cannot go in,' he said.
