LSU's Lane Kiffin makes it very clear how he feels about Paul Finebaum after getting ripped by the SEC Network host

SEC Network host ripped LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin last week over the drama with former NFL players returning to college. LSU head coach Lane Kiffin is no stranger to getting ripped by SEC Network host Paul Finebaum, so he probably wasn't surprised when Finebaum took aim at him last week. Finebaum took issue with Kiffin's desire to add class of 2022 players who have participated in NFL training camps or preseason games to LSU's roster. 'We can all wrap our arms around Lane Kiffin and say he's lovable and he's a great coach,' said Finebaum. 'But in the end, he's a child. He's a 51-year-old man behaving like a 16-year-old. And the worst part is there are adults in the room.' Kiffin was asked on Monday about the criticism from Finebaum. It would've been easy for Kiffin, who has a long history with Finebaum, to be miffed about being called a 'child.' Instead, he took the high road. 'I like Paul, I really do,' said Kiffin. 'And he knows that. He said something one time to me about being like the ex that texts, and you respond back. I don't think of Paul like that. They have a job to do, and I understand that. Those things used to make me mad and upset. And then I realized, 'Okay, they have a job to do.' Especially when two people go on a show, usually they've got to take opposite sides. It's just Paul's shtick. 'And really, if you study over time, if Paul's on you, you're probably doing really well — or you're about to do really well. Because I always remember with Paul, every other year at Alabama, it was, 'Saban's done, the dynasty's over. He can't coach, he can't keep up anymore with the tempo offense.' Paul would kill him every other year, and then he'd go win a national championship. So when Paul does it, I like it because it usually means something good's about to happen.' This is certainly the right approach from Kiffin. Ultimately, Finebaum doesn't impact the results on Saturdays, so why spend time getting upset over his hot takes (many of which I don't even think Finebaum himself believes)?
