Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in northwest Atlanta, police say

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Police said a woman died after being hit by a car in northwest Atlanta on Sunday night. Shortly after 10:40 p.m., officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on the 600 block of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard NW, according to the Atlanta Police Department. Officers found a woman who'd been hit by a car. She was taken to the hospital, where despite life-saving efforts she was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The department's preliminary investigation shows that the woman was walking in the roadway before she was hit.
