Customs Authorities Record UAH 2.9 Billion in Rule Violations, Up 17%

In the first eight months of the year, customs authorities recorded customs violations worth a total of UAH 2.9 billion. This is 17% more than during the same period last year. This is reported by the press service of the State Customs Service. What customs officials seized The State Customs Service temporarily seized goods and other items involved in violations in 3,104 cases. The total value of the seized items amounted to UAH 509 million. Industrial goods accounted for the largest share, at UAH 354 million. Customs officials also seized food products worth UAH 91 million, vehicles valued at more than UAH 59 million, and currency totaling UAH 6 million. Fines and court decisions In 732 cases, customs authorities imposed fines totaling UAH 31 million. UAH 39 million has already been transferred to the state budget. This amount includes payments collected in cases that were also considered during previous periods. Customs authorities referred 4,651 cases involving customs violations to the courts. The total value of the items involved in these proceedings exceeded UAH 2 billion. Following the consideration of the cases, including those initiated in previous years, the courts ordered the confiscation of goods and imposed fines totaling UAH 10 billion. Comparison with last year During the first eight months of last year, customs authorities temporarily seized items involved in violations in 2,324 cases. Their total value amounted to UAH 728 million. Thus, this year the number of cases involving temporary seizures increased, although the value of the seized items was lower than during the same period of the previous year. Related news for you:
