14 hospitalized during The Chainsmokers concert in California

The San Jose Fire Department said crews responded to an outdoor concert at Discovery Meadow around 8:22 p.m. after receiving reports of multiple patients requiring medical attention. Rolling Stone and TMZ identified the event as a concert by The Chainsmokers. Fire officials immediately requested an Ambulance Task Force, two additional advanced life support fire units and a battalion chief to provide additional medical resources. The fire department did not disclose what prompted the medical emergencies. San Jose police told local outlets that several people were being treated for suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues, according to Rolling Stone. The conditions of those hospitalized were not released. San Jose police assisted with traffic control, and all fire department resources returned to service around 10:34 p.m., SJFD said. Rolling Stone reported that the concert continued despite the medical emergencies and that The Chainsmokers later shared video from the show on social media. The duo had not publicly commented on the hospitalizations as of Sunday, according to Rolling Stone.
