Ahmedabad: 2,212 medical, dental seats vacant as ACPMEC opens second round

Ahmedabad : A total of 2,212 seats in medical and dental colleges across Gujarat remain vacant after the first round of counselling conducted by the Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Educational Courses (ACPMEC). The committee has now announced the second round of counselling, for which 16,196 candidates are eligible. The eligible pool includes 234 newly registered students whose names have been added to the provisional merit list for MBBS and BDS admissions for the 2026-27 academic year. According to ACPMEC, the second round of online choice filling will be open from Sep 7 to 11. Candidates can submit or modify their choices by 4pm on Sep 11. The second round will cover seats in govt, grant-in-aid and self-financed medical and dental colleges across the state. The available seat matrix will include unfilled NRI and PwD quota seats, seats left vacant after candidates failed to report in the first round, and 50 additional MBBS seats recently approved for Ananya College of Medicine and Research in Kalol, Gandhinagar. Of the 2,212 seats available in the second round, 1,587 are MBBS seats and 625 are BDS seats. The MBBS vacancies include 785 unallotted seats and 752 seats that fell vacant after candidates did not report. The remaining 50 seats are the newly approved intake at Ananya College of Medicine and Research. Among BDS seats, 158 remain unallotted while 467 became vacant due to non-reporting by candidates. No additional BDS seats have been added. Overall, the vacancy pool comprises 943 unallotted seats, 1,219 non-reported seats, and 50 newly sanctioned MBBS seats. The committee has advised candidates to regularly check the official website for counselling schedules, notifications, and admission-related updates. A dedicated helpline has also been set up to assist students with admission-related queries.
