ONTARIO, Ore. There is a lot more happening on a Friday night football field than what eventually shows up on the scoreboard.
This photo album from Friday night's matchup between the Ontario Tigers and Payette Pirates captures a little bit of all of it, from the players competing on the field and the coaches working the sidelines to the band providing the soundtrack and the cheerleaders keeping the crowd involved.
Ontario came away with a decisive 35–0 victory, but throughout the evening I tried to capture both sides of the game: the big plays, the smaller moments between plays, the athletes representing their schools, and all of the students and adults who help make Friday night football what it is.
The Ontario Tiger Band also gave fans an early look at this season's competition show, 'City Scapes,' ( https://fb.watch/JuvLGEel3t/? ) while the cheerleaders were busy from the opening introductions through the final minutes of the game.
And then, just when you think you've photographed everything Friday night football has to offer, you catch one more moment.
Near the end of the evening, there were flowers, a handmade sign and a question:
'My day would be SUNNY if you'd be my Angel at HOCO.'
Judging by those smiles, I think we may have witnessed a successful Homecoming invitation.
Football players, coaches, band members, cheerleaders, fans and even a little Homecoming romance. That's Friday night under the lights.
