The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has identified problems with mobile call quality and internet services in parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi following an inspection of mobile networks across the twin cities.
PTA Chairman Major General (Retd) Hafeez Ur Rehman personally tested mobile calls and internet services during the exercise, while three special teams assessed 4G coverage, call connectivity, voice quality, network performance, and mobile internet speeds at different locations.
The inspection covered Islamabad International Airport, Srinagar Highway, Islamabad Expressway, Rawat T-Chowk, Murree Road, Rawal Road, and areas surrounding the Old Airport in Rawalpindi.
Telecom company representatives accompanied the inspection teams, along with officials from the Ministry of IT and Telecommunications and senior PTA officials.
The initial assessment found mobile call and data services generally satisfactory in most inspected areas. However, the teams also identified shortcomings in call quality and internet services at certain locations.
Following the findings, the PTA chairman issued instructions to mobile operators' representatives on the spot, directing them to address the identified problems and improve service standards.
The inspection was aimed at checking the actual quality of mobile services available to consumers and ensuring better voice and internet connectivity across the twin cities.
