New Nashville Artists Take Center Stage at BNA With Fall/Winter Art Exhibits

Travelers passing through Nashville International Airport can now experience a fresh collection of local artwork, as BNA has debuted its Fall/Winter installment of the popular Flying Solo exhibition series. Click for More News The seasonal exhibits feature new works by Nashville-area artists Sarah Kaufman and Jenny Petite and will remain on display through Jan. 4, 2027. Flying Solo is a rotating exhibition program that highlights local artists and arts organizations throughout the year. The latest installment features a mix of oil paintings, photography, mixed media, acrylics and collages, giving travelers an opportunity to experience Nashville's creative side while moving through the airport. Sarah Kaufman's oil-on-canvas work, 'Untitled,' can be found on Concourse D near Gate D2 and in the pre-security area near the Concourse A/B exit. Kaufman has more than 35 years of painting experience and has built a career around both creating art and teaching others. Her landscape paintings explore the way light moves through forests, using color, shadow and geometric forms to create impressionist interpretations of the natural world. Kaufman begins her paintings with walks through the woods and phone photographs before recreating the feeling of being outdoors in her studio. Her work is held in private and corporate collections around the world, and she has also published two children's books. Jenny Petite's photography pieces, 'Venus of Suburbia: My Life is a Masterpiece' and 'A Modern Renaissance: Revival of Self,' are displayed on Concourse D near Gates D3 and D5. Petite uses self-portrait photography to explore identity, introspection and the complexities of the human experience. Her work places herself within reimagined historical scenes, blending humor, fiction and reality while encouraging viewers to consider their own contradictions and personal stories. The Flying Solo series is part of BNA's Arts at the Airport program, which has showcased Tennessee's cultural richness since 1988. The program features rotating exhibitions, permanent artwork and live performances throughout the airport's terminal and public spaces.
