Pakistan, Qatar discuss joint ventures for motorway, highway expansion

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has invited Qatar to participate in Pakistan's communications and infrastructure sector, particularly through joint ventures for the construction and expansion of motorways and highways. Abdul Aleem Khan made the offer during a meeting with Qatari Prince Sheikh Nayef bin Eid Al Thani in Islamabad, where the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The federal minister highlighted the strong religious, cultural and historical ties between Pakistan and Qatar, saying closer cooperation and joint business ventures would serve the interests of both countries. He said Qatar's investment in Pakistan would be welcomed, particularly in infrastructure development. Pakistan welcomes Qatari investment Abdul Aleem Khan said there were opportunities for joint ventures in the construction and expansion of motorways and highways, adding that Pakistan was ready to facilitate investment from Qatar. He also praised Qatar's important role in the region and its active contribution to regional affairs. The minister noted that thousands of overseas Pakistanis are associated with education and employment in Qatar, describing them as an important link between the two countries. He also said Pakistan and Iran value Qatar's contribution to peace efforts in the region. Qatari prince expresses investment interest During the meeting, Sheikh Nayef bin Eid Al Thani expressed interest in investing in various sectors of Pakistan. He said Qatar would continue to maintain strong relations and mutual cooperation with Pakistan. Both sides expressed good wishes for each other and exchanged gifts at the conclusion of the meeting.
