While German-American defender Noahkai Banks remains undecided about his national team future, he will not be part of the upcoming U.S. men's national team camp, coach Mauricio Pochettino confirmed Monday. Pochettino said the team has remained in contact with Banks. The 19-year-old recently said he knows he must soon decide whether to represent Germany or the United States internationally but wants to focus on the start of his Bundesliga season with Augsburg right now. 'The organization is working with all the dual nationals and players with the possibility to make a decision,' Pochettino told reporters. 'That human connection is important because if one day they feel that they can defend and they want to fight and to be part of our national team.' Pochettino added that Banks could receive another callup if he chooses the United States and earns a place on the roster, but his status has not changed since before the World Cup. The German publication Bild reported that Germany had also been in touch with Banks, with coach Jurgen Klopp reportedly scouting one of his recent matches in person. Banks is the son of a German mother and an American father. Born in Hawaii, he returned to Germany with his family when he was seven weeks old. He has lived there ever since and joined Augsburg's youth academy at eight years old. Banks represented the U.S. at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup and participated in a training camp with the USMNT in September 2025. He still lists 'USMNT' in his Instagram bio. He has started Augsburg's first two Bundesliga matches this season. --Field Level Media
