Students at Georgetown University are reportedly planning a Charlie Kirk look-alike contest to be held on the one-year anniversary of his death. According to a report from Fox News Digital, an anonymous social media user advertised the upcoming contest on Fizz, a social media platform for verified college students. The event is allegedly set to be held at Georgetown's Copley Lawn on Thursday, September 10, though it is not an official event organized by the university. "We have seen no activity on campus related to these posts. Georgetown is not planning such an event and, to our knowledge, no student organization is hosting or planning such an event. We take these anonymous posts seriously and condemn their language as deeply inconsistent with Georgetown University's values," a spokesperson for the university told the outlet. "We are monitoring this closely to ensure the safety of the University community." The statement continued, "Georgetown is committed to ensuring that all members of our community have a safe and welcoming place to learn and receive the support they need to do so. We seek to create a living and learning community that promotes thoughtful, respectful dialogue." Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed during a planned debate with students at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. Suspect Tyler Robinson was later arrested and charged with aggravated murder. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges as prosecutors seek the death penalty. "While Georgetown's policies give latitude for the free expression of ideas and opinions, making light of a victim of violence is counter to our values and deeply disappointing," the university added. "Students are expected to know the policies that guide life on campus, including the Speech and Expression policy and the Code of Student Conduct." Social media users were quick to voice their distaste for the alleged event. "Georgetown is a Catholic institution. You don't have to be perfect to be admitted, but could the admissions office at least aim for 'not evil'?" one person wrote via X. "This is absolutely despicable," another shared. "This is an abomination. @Georgetown how can you allow this? Do something TODAY to stop this," a third demanded.
