Porsche is moving towards simplifying its future product strategy and focusing more on high-profit performance cars.
Within this strategy, the idea of a new mid-engined Porsche supercar is reportedly under consideration, which could utilize technology from Audi and Lamborghini.

If this project is greenlit, Porsche could have a proper flagship supercar after the 918 Spyder.

Porsche showcased the Mission X concept in 2023. It was seen as a potential preview of a future electric hypercar that could challenge cars like the Ferrari F80 and McLaren W1 as a spiritual successor to the 918 Spyder.
But Porsche's current strategy places a premium on profitability and product simplification. Company CEO Michael Leiters has also spoken about reducing excessive variants and model overlap in the lineup.

Reportedly, the potential supercar Porsche is considering could borrow technology from the Audi Nuvolari.
This is where the Volkswagen Group connection becomes more interesting. The Audi Nuvolari itself uses hardware related to the Lamborghini Temerario. Audi's limited-run supercar targets a 1,001 PS hybrid powertrain, a mid-engine layout, and a top speed of over 350 km/h. Production is limited to just 499 units, with customer deliveries planned from the first half of 2027.
So, a future Porsche supercar could theoretically be part of a technical family that combines Lamborghini architecture, Audi technology, and Porsche engineering.
This combination sounds crazy in the headline, but technology sharing within the Volkswagen Group is nothing new.
The Audi Nuvolari's mid-engine architecture is closely related to the Lamborghini Temerario, while the Nuvolari adds its own carbon structure, hybrid systems, aerodynamics, and Audi-specific engineering.
If Porsche uses this technical foundation, it could help the company reduce both the cost and time of developing a completely new platform.
However, the Porsche supercar project is not yet a confirmed production model. According to reports, the company's supervisory board is yet to decide on the future of the potential halo model.

Porsche's last true production supercar was the 918 Spyder, whose production ended in 2015.
Since then, the company has maintained its performance credentials through the 911 GT3 RS, GT3-based special editions, and other high-performance derivatives. Porsche is also expanding its Sonderwunsch customization program, as highly personalized cars could become an important part of future profitability.
A new supercar could create a clear halo position above the 911 in Porsche's portfolio.
An important point is that, despite a potential new supercar, the 911 will remain the core sports car of the Porsche lineup.
According to reports, Porsche is not making immediate plans to convert the 911 into a fully electric model. The company may instead focus on a combination of combustion, hybrid, and bespoke performance products.
If Porsche approves this Porsche Supercar project, it would be a major strategic shift from Mission X's electric hypercar vision. Sharing technology from the Audi Nuvolari and Lamborghini Temerario could give Porsche a way to create an extremely high-performance halo car while controlling development costs.
For now, this should be viewed as a reported project, not a confirmed Porsche supercar. If given the green light, it could be one of the most interesting performance-car collaborations within the Volkswagen Group.
