CMA CGM Introduces New PSS and Low Water Surcharge

CMA CGM is introducing new Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) and Low Water Surcharge (LWS) measures across selected international trades, with the changes aimed at reflecting seasonal demand and navigation constraints. The carrier will apply a US$150 per TEU PSS on cargo moving from the Far East to the Maldives from September 12, 2026. The surcharge will increase to US$450 per TEU from September 15 and will apply to all cargo. CMA CGM will also introduce a US$150 per TEU Low Water Surcharge from October 1 on selected services from the US East Coast and Gulf, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and American Samoa to destinations in South America. The LWS will also cover a range of trades from the US West Coast to Latin America and the Caribbean. The carrier has separately postponed its previously announced LWS for cargo moving from the west coast of South America through the Panama Canal to October 1, citing continuing water-level and navigability constraints. The latest measures add to CMA CGM's broader series of rate and surcharge adjustments announced across several global trades for September and October.
