Alabama OC Talks Run Game Strengths Ahead of First SEC Conference Game

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- Crimson Tide OC Ryan Grubb talked about the efficiency of the Tide's run game following a 38-point win over the ECU Pirates last Saturday. The Crimson Tide featured three running backs plus the rushing ability of quarterback Keelon Russell, starting the season off strong with 227 team rushing yards. QB Keelon Russell led the team with 86 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown, while running back Daniel Hill led the running backs with nine carries for 47 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Get our free mobile app Freshman running backs EJ Crowell and Trae'shawn Brown showed some flashes, with Crowell taking a handoff around the corner for a three-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Brown also has a score on the ground, which wasn't the flashiest of scores but did show his breakaway speed on a 68-yard rushing touchdown that was called back for a holding penalty in the third quarter. I thought it his touchdown run from the four-yard line or whatever yard line he was on was super impressive. He got his shoulders square, had a profile tackle guy that just bounced right off of him, kept the ball tight, finished the run," Grubb said. "I thought Daniel had some really good runs that way, and then 13 is pretty good. He's not a bad player. I like that guy. So we'll see how much more we get him out there. It was great to see TB hit the gas on that one, you know, just kind of show that he's He's got that top-end speed to break away. And I thought TB had two really good blind cuts into a safety that were excellent seven-yard runs. And one was an 11-yard run. So was excited to see all three of those guys get out there and do some work.'
