'Electric' atmosphere could boost LSU's efforts recruiting Mississippi's best in 2028

LSU signed just one prep player out of Mississippi over the past two classes. And with none committed in 2027 so far, that number could stay the same for the foreseeable future. Yet the frequency in which LSU brings in players from the Magnolia State could increase by the time the 2028 cycle is complete. Or at least there seems to be amplified traction in the state under Lane Kiffin, who obviously has significant ties there after spending the prior six seasons coaching Ole Miss. The anticipated matchup between Kiffin's old squad and his current one is on a collision course for later this month when the coach returns to Oxford on Sept. 19. Ole Miss is bringing in top prospects from around the state, region, and country for what might be the most well-attended recruiting event of the season. For LSU, it'll be another chance to make a statement in front of Mississippi prospects after the Tigers took it to Clemson in Kiffin's first game at the helm. The Debut on the Bayou couldn't have gone much better for LSU from an on-field perspective with a 51-10 victory. And the same goes from a recruiting standpoint as prospects in attendance were blown away by the atmosphere as well as the performance.
