A well known RTE producer who originally hails from County Sligo has graduated with a Doctorate in Business Administration from South East Technological University (SETU). Gail Henry, daughter of Vivienne Henry of Strandhill, is Producer in Charge at RTÉ lyric fm, a senior leadership position with the national broadcaster. The multi-award-winning producer is also current Chair of the European Broadcasting Union's Classical Music Board, a position she was elected to in Cologne in 2022. She was the first woman, and the first Irish person, ever to hold the post. Her awards include: 2022 Gold Medal at New York festivals; 2018 Torc for excellence at the Celtic Media Awards; 2017 Outstanding Achievement Award IMRO Radio Awards. Her doctorate deepens her expertise in transformational leadership, the art of inspiring teams to achieve more. Gail specialises in working with high-intensity, high-performing teams, bringing valuable knowledge to complex and demanding professional environments. This doctoral achievement is a testament to Gail's drive for excellence in leadership and collaboration, whether on the podium, on the airwaves or in the boardroom. Gail is well known to Sligo audiences. She taught music in the county for many years and conducted and directed the Choir of Holy Cross Friary, before going on to manage the RTÉ orchestras and choir. But above all, locals fondly remember her sparkling flute playing, recitals and concert performances.
