Content creator and streamer Carter Efe is set to face rapper and social media personality Speed Darlington in a celebrity boxing bout scheduled for October 1 at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos. The fight, tagged 'Chaos in the Ring', was announced by Balmoral Promotions and will take place on Nigeria's Independence Day. The contest is also expected to be streamed live on DAZN. The promoters confirmed the bout on social media, describing it as a clash between two African entertainers who will settle their rivalry inside the ring. The encounter will mark the first boxing meeting between Carter Efe and Speed Darlington, although both entertainers have previously participated in Nigeria's growing celebrity boxing circuit. Carter Efe enters fight after Portable victory Carter Efe heads into the contest with growing confidence after defeating singer Habeeb 'Portable' Badmus by unanimous decision in May. The victory came during Chaos in the Ring 4 at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos. Efe produced a disciplined performance throughout the three-round contest, using movement, uppercuts, body shots and cleaner combinations to neutralise Portable's aggressive approach. All three judges scored the bout 30-27 in favour of Efe, handing him a convincing unanimous decision victory. Following the win, businessman Emeka 'E-Money' Okonkwo fulfilled a ₦50 million pledge to the content creator. Efe's victory also ended Portable's unbeaten run in the celebrity boxing circuit. Before the defeat, Portable had recorded victories over actor Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington. Speed Darlington seeks redemption Speed Darlington will be hoping to revive his fortunes when he steps into the ring against Efe. The rapper previously faced Portable in a celebrity boxing contest in 2025, but the fight ended in defeat after Portable won by technical knockout when Darlington was unable to continue into the second round. The bout followed a public disagreement between the two entertainers. Darlington had reportedly offered Portable ₦500,000 to perform at an event, but the singer rejected the offer, leading to a heated exchange that eventually spilled into the boxing ring. Portable dominated the opening round before Darlington was unable to continue. Following the defeat, Darlington attributed the outcome to supernatural forces, claiming that 'juju' or charms were involved. Darlington had earlier called out Efe The upcoming contest also stems from a challenge issued by Speed Darlington after Efe defeated Portable. Following Efe's victory in May, Darlington mocked Portable over the result and referenced his own previous encounter with the singer. He subsequently challenged Efe to a boxing bout, presenting himself as a different test from Portable and expressing confidence that he could defeat the content creator. His challenge has now materialised, with both entertainers set to settle their rivalry inside the ring on October 1. Celebrity boxing continues to grow The contest is the latest major attraction from Nigeria's increasingly popular celebrity boxing scene, where entertainment, social media rivalries and personal disputes have become central to fight promotion. Balmoral Promotions has staged several editions of the Chaos in the Ring series, bringing together entertainers for boxing contests alongside other attractions. The circuit has featured several high-profile entertainers, with their existing public disagreements often adding to the publicity and drama surrounding the bouts. Portable's rivalry with Charles Okocha, for example, produced a high-profile celebrity boxing contest and a controversial rematch. Okocha defeated Portable in their rematch after the singer abandoned the ring following a chaotic opening round. Their first encounter, held in December 2023, had ended with Portable emerging victorious. The rivalry was reportedly linked to a dispute over an alleged ₦40 million business deal. Details of upcoming bout The Carter Efe-Speed Darlington fight will take place at the Federal Palace Hotel, Balmoral Convention Centre/Hall, Victoria Island, Lagos. However, the promoters have yet to publicly release full details concerning the undercard, weight classes, number of rounds, purse arrangements and exact start time. The bout is expected to attract significant attention from fans of both entertainers as the celebrity boxing circuit continues to gain popularity in Nigeria. Boxing Carter Efe Entertainment industry
